Nehawu KZN provincial spokesperson Ayanda Zulu says workers need to be trained on how to use PPEs.
At least 66 people, including 45 healthcare workers, tested positive at St Augustine's Hospital while Kingsway also has numerous positive cases.
Nehawu’s Ayanda Zulu says a lack of training on the use of protective equipment is also a problem that needs to be resolved.
“We know that in most of the hospitals, when written in black and white, they always prove to have enough PPEs but our members from different managers say they continuously refuse to give workers particular PPEs so the issue of Netcare we will be closely monitoring.
“We are engaging with the management of the region of KZN to get a full report on the workplaces’ preparedness.”
