New Covid-19 cases rise by over 1 300, 48 new deaths

The number of Covid-19 cases in South Africa now stands at 1 565 680.
The Department of Health said on Saturday evening that 1 326 new coronavirus cases had been recorded since its previous report.
The death toll has climbed to 53 711, with 48 new deaths reported.
The majority of those deaths - 16 - were recorded in KwaZulu Natal, with 13 in Gauteng, 10 in the Northern Cape, 8 in the Free State and 1 in the Eastern Cape.
The country's recovery rate remains at 95%, with just over 22 500 active cases.
