Operation Dudula leader Nhlanhla Lux Dlamini has been found guilty of contempt of court and sentenced to caution and discharge.
On 9 September 2019, Lux appeared before the Meadowlands Magistrate’s Court for common assault.
The case was postponed to 30 September 2019, but he never appeared again, and a warrant of arrest was issued against him.
Police did not carry out the order.
The case related to a common assault charge that was laid against him by a tenant that was renting at his mother's home in Meadowlands.
"The court held an inquiry into his failure to attend court, on 30 September 2019. Thereafter the court dealt with the criminal case of common assault, granted him R1000 bail, and postponed the case to 3 May 2022, for further investigations,” says National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson Phindi Mjonondwane.
Meanwhile in a separate case, Lux is due to appear before the Roodepoort Magistrate’s Court on 27 May for house breaking, theft and malicious damage to property.
