No bail for Chesney Keppler’s killer: MMC Arnolds
Updated | By Selaki Ledwaba
MMC for Finance in Johannesburg, Margret Arnolds, says no stone will be left unturned to ensure that Chesney Keppler’s alleged killer remains in jail without bail.

She expressed these sentiments on Wednesday at Keppbler’s Memorial Service at Don Mateman Hall in Eldorado Park.
Keppler was shot through the window of her home in Eldorado Park, by her 42-year-old police officer boyfriend, on the 26th of December 2024.
The man fled the scene, attempted to commit suicide, and was later arrested.
“Every Stone will be turned to ensure that there is justice for Chesney. We are not going to leave it, we are not going to 2025 with Mandla getting bail, or with Mandla getting out and living his life” Arnolds said.
Arnolds added that as a local government, they are dealing with Gender-Based Violence (GBV) through the Health and Social Development department in the City.
Arnolds said together with MMC for Health and Social Development, Ennie Makhafola, and MMC for Corporate and Shared Services, Loyiso Masuku, they are running a campaign to end GBV.
Arnolds shared that as a survivor of GBV, she is encouraging other women to speak up as she did.
“I have a campaign and project called ‘My life matters, so I spoke out’.”
The MMC called on women who are being mistreated by their partners to speak out as well.
“ If Chesney had spoken out, we probably would have saved her. Her dad said that she had not spoken about it. Everyone knew about it, but Chesney had not spoken about it.” said Arnolds.
“If the victim does not speak about it there is nothing we can do.”
Keppler's alleged killer, who is a police officer, made his first court appearance on Monday.
The case was postponed to the 6th of January.
