No leads on Shasha case one week after disappearance
Concerned residents remain hopeful that the six-year-old will be found.
But to date, no leads have yet proven useful.
On Friday, dozens of locals gathered near her home to light a candle as prayers were said at a vigil.
Community leader Ricardo Sedres told News24 the search for Shasha will now move further than Hanover Park.
“On Monday we plan to head down Varkensvlei Road toward Strandfontein. There are lots of bushy areas which we will have to comb through,” he said.
“We still hold on to the hope she is alive. It is what keeps up going.”
Shasha was last seen playing with her friends around the corner from her Groenel Walk home at 16:00 on Sunday afternoon.
She has not been seen since.
Western Cape provincial minister for safety and security Dan Plato has also committed to joining the search party on Monday.
Meanwhile, police are investigating the identity of the little boy found floating in a dam on the Nuutgewek farm in Kraaifontein on Saturday.
Police on Sunday said the clothes the child was wearing match those reportedly worn by Bukho Mktyalwa, 4, who was last seen in a playground in Wallacedene on Wednesday afternoon.
The child was spotted by a local who saw the body floating in the dam.
Police said they did not want to speculate on the identity of the child or the circumstances surrounding his death.
