North West Premier slams Mahikeng protest

North West Premier Job Mokgoro on Tuesday slammed the recent community protest in Mahikeng.
This comes after protestors disrupted traffic and brought the city to a standstill on Monday morning.
"Dihatshwane village, located along the R503 road between Mahikeng and Lichtenburg, as well as the N18 road between the capital and Vryburg near Kedirile Inn and Makhubung Village were the hotspots of the unrest on Monday," said Mokgoro on Tuesday.
He appealed to communities to ignore messages making the rounds on social media encouraging them to embark on what is termed a “Total Shutdown of Mahikeng”.
A 30-year-old man was arrested for public violence and is expected to appear soon before the Molopo Magistrate's Court in Mmabatho.
Neighbouring Free State’s Mangaung metro was also engulfed in protest action this week that saw a 14-year-old boy, Liam Siegel, being fatally shot.
