NPA: Granting of bail in Pampoenkraal murder case ‘does mean acquittal’
Updated | By Sinethemba Madolo
The granting of bail does not mean an accused in any matter is acquitted of the crime, says the Mpumalanga National Prosecuting Authority (NPA).

It was reacting to the decision by the Piet Retief Magistrate’s Court to grant bail to the five men accused of the killing of the Coka brothers.
Daniel Malan, Cornelius Greyling, Othard Klingberg, Michael Sternberg and Zenzele Yende were granted bail on Friday morning.
They are accused of killing two brothers, Zenzele and Amos Coka, at the Pampoenkraal farm.

They appeared in the Retief Magistrate's Court in Mkhondo on Friday and were released on R10 000 bail each.
Mpumalanga NPA spokesperson Monica Nyuswa says the state is still confident of its case against the accused.
"As the NPA we remain confident that the accused persons [have a case].
"Granting of bail to the accused person does not mean they are acquitted. We believe they still have a case to answer which will be proved in court during the trial," Nyuswa said.
The matter has been postponed to 30 June for further investigation.
