Numsa to picket at SAA Technical
Updated | By JacarandaFM News
Members of the National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa (Numsa) at South African Airways Technical will picket outside the company's offices on Friday.
The union says the company, which is a subsidiary of South African Airways, is in deep financial distress due to the fact that SAA was placed under business rescue.
Numsa spokesperson Phakamile Hlubi-Majola says workers are in the process of being retrenched.
“And to make matters worse, they have suffered for more than a year without full payment. Our members are fed up and they will be picketing over the non-payment of salaries at SAAT.
“They are also demanding the immediate suspension of the HR General Manager Vincent Matlala for a number of allegations, including misconduct and allegations of sexual harassment,” says Hlubi-Majola.
Meanwhile, Minister of Public Enterprises Pravin Gordhan is expected to give an update on SAA on Friday.
