A 43-year-old woman who is accused of slapping a teacher at Phera Primary School has been released on a warning.
The woman appeared at Molopo Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.
The mother was seen slapping the 53-year-old teacher in a video that circulated on social media last week.
North West police spokesperson Adele Myburgh says the woman is expected to return to court on Thursday.
"The 43-year-old suspect was charged and warned to appear in court on Thursday on a charge of assault."
Provincial education spokesperson Elias Malindi says the woman claimed the teacher refused her children entry to the school.
"The teacher, who has over 10 years teaching experience, was allegedly assaulted by a mother, who has two children in Grade 4 and R respectively at the school.
"It is alleged the parent complained last week Thursday on why the teacher turned back her children for late coming.
"Upon investigation, the department found that the two learners never arrived at school as their names did not appear on the screeners register on the said day."
