One person died and 14 people were injured when a taxi rolled down an embankment on the R74 near Bergville, KwaZulu-Natal, on Thursday, paramedics said.
One person was killed and another sustained critical injuries when they were flung from the taxi, ER24 spokeswoman Chitra Bodasing said.
"A taxi with 15 people rolled down an embankment. It is understood the driver lost control of the vehicle after a tyre burst. The taxi rolled several metres down the embankment," she said in a statement.
The victims were found lying all over the scene, including in a ravine.
"The driver of the taxi was one of those initially ejected from the vehicle," she said.
"He was provided with advanced life support on scene. Unfortunately the second person who was ejected had succumbed to their injuries."
