Updated | By sibahle motha
One person died and two others were injured when two cars collided at the intersection of Todd and Ireland Street in Verulam, KwaZulu-Natal paramedics said on Monday.
Netcare 911 spokesman Chris Botha said one car collided into the side of the other car on Sunday night.
"Paramedics and other services arrived at the scene and found the roadway obstructed with accident debris and the twisted frames of the vehicles..."
Some patients were still trapped in the vehicles.
Paramedics stabilised them in the vehicles but a woman in her 50s seated in the back of a vehicle died from extensive injuries.
Another woman, in her 20s, who was seated in front was in a critical condition with life threatening injuries.
After paramedics stabilised the injured people and placed the critically injured woman on a ventilator, they transported them to various hospitals.
