Tshwane emergency services say at least one person is still missing after being swept away by floods in Babelegi, Hammanskraal.
A couple was found hanging from a tree after being swept away by floods in the Maubane area.
Meanwhile, 10 people including three children were rescued from a vehicle that was stuck in a low water crossing in Dertig.
Tshwane EMS spokesperson Charles Mabaso says they are expecting the number of missing people to increase as some cases may not have been reported to authorities.
“The rescue technicians and divers on Saturday responded to an incident in Dertig where 10 people were trapped, they also responded to an incident in Hamanskraal where a person was reported to have been swept away by water. The search for the person was called off because of poor visibility and safety concerns for the team.” Said Mabaso
Meanwhile, the Department of Water and Sanitation spokesperson Sputnik Ratau has warned the public about the dangers of crossing flooded areas.
“People in low-lying areas and affected by floods must just continue to be vigilant and should not take chances by crossing low-lying bridges, the recent rains have resulted in localised flooding around Pretoria area. The safety of lives and livelihoods is paramount.”
