Over 1500 new Covid-19 cases recorded
The number of new daily Covid-19 cases remains low, with South Africa recording over 1 500 new infections in the past 24 hours leading up to Tuesday evening.
Statistics released by Health Minister Dr Zweli Mkhize show that only 1 567 new cases of Covid-19 were confirmed, with 12 237 tests conducted.
Gauteng remains the epicenter with over 200 000 Covid-19 cases reported since the beginning of the pandemic, followed by KwaZulu-Natal at 110 521 and the Western Cape at 104 781.
Despite the decrease in the number of Covid-19 infections, the death rate continues to increase significantly.
A further 149 Covid-19 related deaths have been recorded in the latest 24-hour cycle, bringing the total number of fatalities to 13 308.

Gauteng has recorded 54 deaths, while there were 35 related deaths in KwaZulu-Natal.
The Western Cape has recorded 18 fatalities, Mpumalanga and the Eastern Cape have each recorded 16 fatalities and the Northern Cape has recorded 10.
