Panayiotou found guilty of wife's murder

Christopher Panayiotou has been found guilty of masterminding the murder of his wife.

Panayiotou was found guilty of murder and defeating the ends of justice in the Port Elizabeth High Court on Thursday, as he celebrates his 31st birthday.


The businessman was accused of hiring men to murder his wife Jayde Panayiotou in April 2015.


The packed courtroom heard of how the undercover police video found Panayiotou to be complicit in the murder.


Judge Dayalin Chetty delievered his verdict in the murder trial involving Panayiotou, Sinethemba Nenembe and Zolani Sibeko.



While delivering his verdict, the judge explained that he found police had not acted in bad faith when setting up the undercover operation.


Chetty described as "telling" the words of Panayiotou to Siyoni in the car: "I told you to let them do it outside the house and take the bags and the watch..."

Sibeko was found guilty of conspiracy to commit murder.


The court heard that Nemembe's involvement is beyond reasonable doubt.


He was also found guilty of murder.
