Nontombi Gwam lost her daughter a day before Christmas.

She held a press briefing at her home in Daveyton, alongside Prophet Paseka "Mboro" Motsoeneng.

A distraught Gwam says a false narrative has been created around the events leading up to her child's death.

"I stand here before you, I am empty and broken. My daughter lost her life because of the negligence of the paramedics. Not only that, but the same paramedics assaulted me with an oxygen cylinder and my leg is fractured. Our whole family is broken, Latoya was a delight to each and every one of us."

Due to the long queues she eventually decided to take her to a  private doctor.

"I went to three doctors whose offices were closed and eventually found a doctor who charged me R900 to put my child on a drip. The doctor assured me my daughter would be fine."

Both Gwam and Motsoeneng say an ambulance was called on Sunday, but paramedics refused to attend to the child.

Gwam has opened a case of culpable homicide and wants national police commissioner Khehla Sitole to assist her in getting to the bottom of the case.

Community members also believe a lack of service delivery is to blame for the child's death.

The controversial Pastor Mboro is out on bail after he was arrested on a charge of assault.

A memorial service will be held for Latoya at Prophet Mboro's church in Katlehong and she will be laid to rest on Saturday in the Eastern Cape.
