Parktown Boys’ High: We are committed to justice for Mpianzi family

The governing body of Parktown Boys’ High School has vowed to fully cooperate with authorities in uncovering the events leading up to the death of 13-year-old Enoch Mpianzi.

“We are utterly committed to ensuring Enock and the Mpianzi family receive the justice they deserve,” the school’s SGB said in a statement on Wednesday afternoon.

Earlier the Nyathi Bush and River Break Resort confirmed that no roll call was done by the school before the grade 8 pupils headed to their orientation camp outside Brits in the North West.

The resort’s legal representative says they tried to persuade the school to halt the activities once a register was completed - but the school allegedly demanded that the activities continue.

The SGB says they will work with authorities to get to the bottom of the tragedy - and for the truth to be told, to ensure that it never happens again.

“We are giving input with the honesty and courage that has defined our institution. We will play our part to ensure we get to the bottom of this tragedy, for the truth to be told and to ensure that it never happens again,” continued the statement.

This while the South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) is set to meet with the pupils that attended the orientation camp in the first week of February.

The commission’s Buang Jones said they would be seeking evidence from the pupils.

The SAHRC and the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) have both offered free legal assistance to the Mpianzi family.
