Petrol price to increase slightly
Updated | By Laila Majiet
Motorists can expect a slight increase in the petrol price from Wednesday.
The Energy Department has announced a 6c/l increase in the price of petrol.
The price of diesel will drop between 62c and 63c a litre.
The Energy Department says the diesel price drop is due to an oversupply in the international market.
"The petrol price hike is due to an increase in demand, while there is very little supply," spokesperson Robert Maake says.
"The continued weakening of the rand also contributed to the fuel prices by close to 40c/l."
The Energy Department says it expects the price of diesel will continue to drop, while the petrol price might improve, as US refineries reopen after an unplanned shutdown.
