PHOTOS: Hundreds gather for EFF march against white capital
Updated | By ANA
Several hundred people had gathered at Mary Fitzgerald Square in Johannesburg on Tuesday morning for a march by the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF).
Buses with singing EFF supporters, many clad in the party’s signature red t-shirts, continued to arrive at the square throughout the course of the morning while organisers helped to hand out placards.
The EFF is protesting against the financial sector which party leader Julius Malema has called “the white monopoly”.
The party was expecting around 5,000 protesters to take part in the march which would proceed to the Chamber of Mines, the Reserve Bank and the Johannesburg Stock Exchange. The party was expected to hand over memoranda with a list of demands at each of the institutions. - ANA
