The suspect briefly appeared in the Pretoria Magistrates Court on Monday.

The postponement came as it emerged during court proceedings that the police are still to conduct an identity parade.

Khwinana, who had recently made his debut on a film directed by Kagiso Lediga and produced by world renowned DJ Black Coffee, died in Pretoria on March 1.

He was stabbed to death outside the Sterland cinema on a Friday night during an alleged cell phone robbery.

The emerging star’s killing sent shockwaves through the country, with politicians and celebrities expressing renewed anger overthe scourge of crime.

Khwinana was buried in Soshanguve at the weekend.

The court ordered that the suspect, who was dressed in a navy blue jacket, with white and red stripes, not be identified ahead of the identity parade.

National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) spokesperson Phindi Mjonondwane said the accused will remain in custody until an identity parade has been conducted.

Further investigations also still need to be conducted to verify the accused’s personal details.

He will be back in court on May 17.
