Police in KwaZulu-Natal are investigating a case of culpable homicide following the shooting of senior state advocate Addelaid Ferreira-Watt in the uMzimkhulu Regional Court on Monday.
Ferreira-Watt succumbed to her injuries in hospital.
Police spokesperson Jay Naicker says Ferreira-Watt was accidently shot with a shotgun, which served as evidence during a house robbery case.
"When the short gun was handed in as evidence, the firearm went off accidentally and shot a court official on the left hip, she was then taken to hospital where she later passed away.”
