Ramaphosa was addressing families of police officers who died in the line of duty.

They were gathered at the Union Building in Pretoria for the National Commemorative Day on Sunday morning.

Thirty-three police officers and reservists were killed between April 1 2021 and March 31 this year.

Ramaphosa said the attacks on police are direct attacks on the state.

“Those responsible for police killings who have not yet been arrested must know that wherever they are, they will be found, and they will face the full might of the law.”

The president also encouraged communities to cooperate with the SAPS to combat crime.

“It is important that CPFs work so that communities can appreciate the critical role they play by working with the police and by reporting criminals who live among us.

“The fight against crime cannot be won by the police on their own. Let us, as communities and the police, take responsibility for each other’s safety.”
