Spokesperson for the police ministry Lirandzu Themba says the roadshow will ensure effective and adequate policing during the upcoming festive season.

On Monday, the South African Police Service will visit Limpopo as the first stop.

The roadshow will end in KwaZulu-Natal on the 31st of December.

Ministry spokesperson Lirandzu Themba says the provincial tours will be driven by the SAPS heads, and will conduct inspections of police operations.

"The ministry and SAPS management will also engage communities on their safety and security as they visit public spaces such as shopping malls, taxi ranks, beaches, parks and other public gathering areas and centres of activities.

"The police top brass will also inspect multi-disciplinary police operations put in place in various provinces and assess their ability to respond to crime during the festive period and beyond".

Themba says the deployment of 10 000 trained constables will also bolster the fight against crime.

"The police ministry is excited and optimistic about the bolstering of the SAPS capacity to better respond to crime, as the police service welcomes 10 000 newly trained constables within its ranks.

"The new constables, who will be graduating from the 13th of December 2022, are part of the 'Project 10 000 police officers' that will be deployed to various stations, units and service points to bolster capacity and enhance police visibility."
