Police officer arrested for wife's murder

The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (Ipid) have arrested a Meredale-based police offer after he allegedly killed his wife during an argument.
The suspect allegedly discharged his firearm by accident.
Ipid spokesperson Moses Dlamini says the suspect arrived home to find his wife sitting with a neighbour at his home.
"It is alleged that he asked her why she was drunk as he knew her to be a Christian but that she told him that she also wanted to be happy.
"The suspect joined his wife and neighbour in drinking," he says.
A quarrel between the suspect and the deceased broke out, when a call came through.
An argument ensued about the identity of a female caller.
"It is alleged that the deceased became angry and threw the suspect's phone onto the cement floor and told him to leave her house.
"The deceased threw the suspect out of her house.
"The suspect alleged that the deceased attacked him with a knife and there was a struggle and a shot was accidentally discharged. The bullet hit the deceased on the upper neck and exited on the left temple," says Dlamini.
The suspect is expected to appear in the Johannesburg Magistrates Court on Monday.
