Power outages around Tshwane

City of Tshwane has warned that it could take up to 3 days to restore power to certain areas.
Various residents in the City of Tshwane are without power following a heavy storm last night that affected the Wolmer substation, a 132/11kv supply substation.
Five towers in the substation needs to be replaced. It is anticipated that the power will be restored within three days maximum due to the towers having to be reconstructed and power to be restored. The City’s Energy and Electricity Department is currently working tirelessly to do the necessary repairs .
The following areas are affected:
-Theresa Park
-Tileba
-Wolmer
-Klerksoord
Power has been restored to the following areas:
-Pretoria North
-Montana
-Annlin
-Tileba
-Magalieskruin
-Cessna
-Sinovile
-Doornpoort
Power failures can be reported by sms. Just sms the word power followed by your account number to 082 612 0333. Or report a power failure to 012 358 9999, choosing the electricity option or 080 111 556.
The city of Tshwane says it is currently experiencing high volumes of calls in the affected area.
Consumers should not repeatedly send messages. Repeatedly sending sms creates congestions and unnecessary backlog and may result in the system being overloaded.

Switch off all non-essential appliances to assist with the load on the electrical network.
The City apologises for the inconvenience caused.
