Power returns after Sinoville substation blast
Updated | By Mmangaliso Khumalo
The City of Tshwane says it is monitoring the consumer load of the Sinoville substation following an explosion which caused a power outage.
On Monday, a switch gear panel exploded at the station after power was restored following scheduled power cuts.
The explosion plunged nearby areas into the dark, and Tshwane Emergency Services were dispatched to the scene.
City spokesperson Lindela Mashigo said power has been restored to all consumers.
“Yesterday, the city’s electricians started with the cleaning and testing of panels. The said substation was energised around 4 pm. This means all consumers are back on, and we are monitoring the consumer load.”
