Pravin Gordhan not concerned about Hawks investigation
Updated | By Pieter van der Merwe
Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan on Wednesday night said he wasn't concerned about the Hawks' investigation into the so-called rogue unit within the South African Revenue Service.
Head of the National Prosecuting Authority, Shaun Abrahams confirmed earlier that their investigation resumed but denied that Pravin Gordhan's arrest is imminent.
This follows reports that the Minister was being investigated for his involvement in the alleged rogue unit.
On Wednesday night, Gordhan was in Laudium, west of Pretoria, where he listened to complaints from residents.
Gordhan reiterated that the economy trumps politics and thus he wasn't bothered by the investigation.
"It's not an urgent matter for me. Right now I want to focus on the economy and sort out the issues that we have that will benefit the country," Gordhan told Jacaranda FM News.
Meanwhile international ratings agencies were expected to make their latest pronouncement on the credit status of the South African economy within this week.
Gordhan said he was focused on what government's budget can offer the ordinary South Africans.
