Private sector complicit in state looting: Jay Naidoo
Updated | By Laila Majiet & Sibahle Motha
The private sector is not exempt from corruption.
So says activist for social justice, Jay Naidoo.
He delivered the keynote address on the last day of the Joburg Indaba.
"We have to look at our complicity in this. Look at the complicity of KPMG in the looting of our country. They don't come from government. They come from the private sector.
"These are the guardians of a code of ethics they have sworn to uphold. What do they do? They collaborate in looting in our country," Naidoo pointed out.
He also referred to worldwide management consulting firm, McKinsey.
"Look at McKinsey. Always remember when you're pointing a finger at someone, there are three fingers pointing back at you. That's the context in which the Indaba is taking place."
Naidoo, the founding general secretary of trade union federation Cosatu, used the platform to discuss the blatant lack of ethics in the private sector.
