Protestors close N3 near Alberton Bridge
Updated | By Emile Pienaar
The Ekurhuleni metro police have warned motorists to avoid the N3 near Alberton Bridge.
The road was closed on Wednesday due to protests over poor service delivery.
EMPD spokesperson, Sisanda Manitshana, said a large group of protesters barricaded the road with burning tyres and were throwing stones.
She said this is causing heavy traffic delays in the area.
"The (EMPD) Public Order Policing Unit Officers, together with the South African Police Service officers, are on scene monitoring the situation," said Manitshana.
"Motorists are urged to avoid the affected route and use alternative routes."
This is a developing story.
