Puppies saved from Centurion drain
Updated | By Sinethemba Madolo
Ten puppies have been rescued from a stormwater pipe in the Kloofsig area of Centurion.
SPCA inspector Diale Ratsela says he got a call from a concerned resident saying the puppies could be heard crying in a drain near the Tek Base military facility.
He says it would appear that the mother had given birth in the drain.
"It looks like the mom gave birth there. The puppies, from looking at them, they seem about 3 weeks old."

Ratsela says it took about an hour to save the ten puppies and the mom.
"It was an hour plan because the mother was very defensive or overly-protective. It took me some time for me to get the puppies one-by-one.
"Fortunately the mother and puppies are in good health, they show no sign or injuries or disease or ill health."
Rastsela says the puppies will be seeing the vet on Thursday for a quick checkup.
