R400m cocaine bust by Hawks in Western Cape
Three men will spend the weekend behind bars following their arrest for possession of cocaine.
The three were arrested by the Hawks on Thursday.
Hawks spokesperson Zinzi Hani says they received information about a truck suspected to be transporting drugs.
“An operation was organised on the N1 freeway and the truck was spotted at Winelands Engen garage travelling towards Cape Town.
“The vehicle was intercepted and a search was conducted wherein a large quantity of drugs was found hidden in false wooden boards at the back of the truck.”
Three men were subsequently arrested.
They are expected to appear in the Athlone Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
