Ramaphosa calls for inclusion of women in top echolons of SANDF
Updated | By Karabo Tebele
President Cyril Ramaphosa has called for women to be recruited into the top leadership of the South African National Defence Force (SANDF).

Ramaphosa made the remarks on Tuesday during the 27th celebration of Freedom Day in Botshabelo, Free State.
He called on the defence force to include women in higher positions.
"Now I want to say to our commanding officers in the SANDF to make sure that we see more women in key roles in the defence force.
"The entire nation was filled with pride when we say Major Mandisa Mfeka flying the Hercules during the inauguration, we want to see more women rising to higher positions just as men do," said Ramaphosa.
Ramaphosa added that he is pleased by the transformation within the defence force.
"Now this is a clear representation of the change that has taken place in our nation. In the past, these jets could have been flown just by white people, and today, there are black young soldiers that are flying these fighter jets.
"Under apartheid, this would have never happened or seen, " added Ramaphosa.
