Ramaphosa dismisses calls for him to appear at Mkhwebane impeachment
President Cyril Ramaphosa's come out with guns blazing in the wake of accusations of wrongdoing - first at the Senzo Meyiwa murder trial and then at the public protector's impeachment inquiry.
Ramaphosa says he will not appear before the section 194 inquiry into Busisiwe Mkhwebane's fitness to hold office.
He's dismissed claims by UDM leader Bantu Holomisa that his presidential campaign may have used public funds.
"General Holomisa's speculation that the CR17 campaign may have used funds is baseless, misdirected and vindictive," the Presidency said in a statement.
"It has never been alleged that the CR17 used public funds. The constitutional court judgment last year ruled that the public protector had no authority to investigate the campaign given that it was not an organ of state or not within the public protector's limit."
Holomisa on Wednesday said that Ramaphosa should give evidence during the parliamentary inquiry into Mkhwebane's competence to hold office.
She was suspended by the president pending finalising the committee's work.
Ramaphosa's also rejected serious claims by Advocate Malesela Teffo, who quit as the representative for four accused in the Senzo Meyiwa murder trial.

He'd claimed the presidency was behind his alleged intimidation and harassment.
Ramaphosa's spokesperson Vincent Magwenya says the president does not participate in criminal investigations and trials.
"He is not involved in any perceived or actual harassment of advocate Teffo."
