Rand Water warns of major maintenance work on West Rand, Johannesburg
Updated | By Mmangaliso Khumalo
Rand Water says planned maintenance work will impact residents of several areas on the West Rand and Johannesburg.
Rand Water began scheduled planned maintenance work at Vereeniging Water Treatment Plant and Weltevreden on Friday.
The maintenance is set to last 24 hours with affected municipalities including Merafong, Mogale City, Rustenburg, and Randwest Local Municipalities.
Rand Water’s Eddie Singo says when the maintenance is done they will immediately start filling up the reservoirs.
"Johannesburg Water has indicated that going back to normal current it could take between three to five days, depending on whether the consumers have reduced their pattern of consumption from Friday."
“From now until we finish the shutdown and maybe a day after, consumers should be consuming less water to build up and go back to normal.”
