The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA)has added rape to the raft of charges faced by a Durban man accused of killing his four children.
The man appeared in the Pinetown Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
He is accused of hanging 4-year-old Kuhlekonke, 6-year-old Khwezi and 10-year-old Sphesihle in their home in September.
The body of their older sister, 16-year-old Ayakha Jiyane was found in a bush in New Germany.
Spokesperson for the NPA in KwaZulu-Natal Natasha Kara says the postponement was to allow the accused to acquire legal representation.
The matter has been adjourned to November 7.
"The accused now faces four counts of murder and one count of rape," says Kara.
