Renew expired licences before Easter rush, warns RTMC

The Road Traffic Management Corporation has urged motorists to renew their vehicle licence discs and driving licence cards before the busy Easter weekend.
According to information from the National Traffic Information System (NaTIS), over 700, 000 vehicle licence discs are due to expire at the end of March, while almost 130,000 driving licence cards are set to expire in the same period.
RTMC spokesperson Simon Zwane said 128,080 driving licence cards will expire during this period, including 44,142 in Gauteng alone.
Zwane encouraged motorists seeking convenience to renew their vehicle licence discs online via the official NaTIS website, allowing them to complete the process from home or work.
Several banks, including Capitec Bank and First National Bank, also offer licence renewal services through their banking apps, with courier fees applied for delivery.
Drivers in Gauteng, Gqeberha, and Kariega can use the same online platform to book appointments to renew their driving licence cards, while those in other provinces have been advised to visit their nearest driving licence testing centres.
