The storm, accompanied by heavy rainfall and hail, caused localised damage across regions 1, 2, 3, and 5, affecting households, infrastructure, and roadways.

The City of Tshwane Emergency Services Department had issued a Yellow Level 4 warning for severe thunderstorms, which was active from midday to midnight.

Emergency Services teams, including Disaster Risk Management and the Regional Operations Coordination Department, conducted assessments on Monday morning to determine the full extent of the damage.

Their work includes evaluating affected infrastructure, identifying high-risk areas, and clearing obstructed roads to restore access and safety.

Emergency services spokesperson Nana Radebe-Kgiba has confirmed that no significant injuries have been reported.

However, she warned residents to take safety precautions as the South African Weather Services predicts a 60% chance of rain for Monday.

"Motorists and residents are urged to exercise caution and avoid flooded or debris-covered roads. We continue to monitor weather developments closely and will provide updates as more information becomes available.

"Severe thunderstorms can cause localised flooding, damaging winds, hail, lightning strikes, and disruptions to traffic. Residents are advised to stay indoors where possible, avoid metal objects, and refrain from outdoor activities such as fishing or golfing during storms. Crossing flooded roads, bridges, or streams is strongly discouraged."
