Resolution to Wonderboom Airport grass standoff
Updated | By Lulutho Mkosi
The Wonderboom Airport Interest Group (WAIG) says the City of Tshwane has agreed to pay private contractors to cut the grass at the Pretoria West airport.
This comes after members of the group staged a protest on Friday over the possibility that flights will no longer be allowed to depart or land at the airport due to length of the grass.

Chairperson Christian Maiorana says the group had doubts over the tender given to cut grass at the airport.
“ If this new company had come us, two weeks prior and said we are not coming right with grass and we have assisted them long ago because ultimately this our livelihood, this how we feed our family and they have never introduced themselves.
“We don’t even know whether the appointment is legal, hence our hesitation, but you give us a 30-minute warning to close the airport.”
