The Richards Bay teacher caught on camera severely beating a schoolgirl in class is yet to be arrested.
The Umdlamfe Secondary School teacher was suspended this week after the video was seen.
The police's Thulani Zwane says the teacher is nowhere to be found.
"We are still looking for the teacher who allegedly assaulted children in the Esikhaleni area. He is still at large and is yet to be arrested. We are appealing to those who may have information on his whereabouts to come forward with information. Wherever he is, he must please hand himself over to the police so the matter will be dealt with," he says.
The KZN Department of Education has served the teacher with a letter of suspension.
