Road closures for Springboks match at Ellis Park stadium

The Johannesburg Metro Police (JMPD) has warned of various road closures due to the Springboks and New Zealand All Blacks rugby match at the Ellis Park Stadium in the City.
Thousands of rugby supporters are expected to fill the 62 567-capacity stadium on Saturday.
Gates will be open at midday and the kickoff is at 5 pm.
JMPD spokesperson, Xolani Fihla, says certain roads will be blocked off around the stadium precinct until the late hours of Saturday evening.
"These include Joe Slovo Drive, Sivewright Avenue, Currey Street, Beit Street, Siemert Road, Charlton Terrace, Van Beek Street, Suzie Street, Bertrams Road, Albertina Sisulu Road, Saratoga Avenue, Erin Street, Miller Street, Voorhout Street and 4th Street.
"Several other intersections will be blocked off to traffic including the Albertina Sisulu Road & Gous Street, Albertina Sisulu Road & Dawe Street, Albertina Sisulu Road & Princess Street, Betrams Road & Voorhout Street, Betrams Road & Fitzroy Street, Betrams Road & Erin Street, Charlton Terrace & Van Beek Street, Sivewright Avenue & Suzie Street, Sivewright Avenue & Currey Street, Sivewright Avenue & Beit Street, Upper Railway Road & Miller Street, Siemert Road & Currey Street, Beit Street & Dora Street, Beit/Park Road & Erin Street, Miller Street & 9th Street, Miller Street & Park Road, South Park Parkade, South Park Lane & 5th Street and Miller Street & South Park Lane /4th Street intersections.
"Motorists are strongly advised to avoid the area and plan alternative routes. The M1 and M2 highways can be used as alternatives."
Fihla adds that a dedicated park-and-ride system will be in operation.
"Taxi shuttle services will transport spectators from designated parking areas at Eastgate Mall and at St John's College in Houghton Estate to the stadium.
"The Park and Ride Bus locations are as follows: Clearwater Mall, Cresta Shopping Centre, Montecasino, Melrose Arch, Mall of Africa, Centurion Mall, Menlyn Park, Greenstone Shopping Centre, East Rand Mall, The Glen Shopping Centre, Gold Reef City, Sandton City and The Grove Mall.
"The Park and Ride Bus service will operate from 1 pm to 3 pm and again from 7 pm to 8:30 pm. E-hailing services will be available for drop-offs and pick-ups at a designated area on Wolmarans Street, Braamfontein, from 11 a.m. to 10:30 pm, and within the stadium precinct at Fitzroy Street and Betrams Road, New Doornfontein. Rea Vaya bus services will also be operational."
Meanwhile, Gautrain spokesperson Albi Modise says Gautrain and PRASA Train services will be available to transport spectators from Park Station to the Ellis Park Train Station.
"The Gautrain has extended its evening service and will run the normal train schedule. The journey on the Metrorail service will be free for valid ticket holders, while the standard Howe Train train and parking fares will apply for those who are using the Howe Train system to connect to Metrorail.
"Fans can catch the Gautrain from various Howe Train stations to Park Station and at Park Station. Thereafter, proceed to Metrorail platforms, where marshals will be on standby to guide commuters to the trains. The last Prasa train departs Ellis Park at 9:30 pm this evening, while the last Gautrain departs Park Station at 10 pm to all Gautrain stations."
