Roads, bridges remain closed in Kruger Park amid heavy downpours

Parts of the Kruger National Park will remain closed for a second week due to persist rain in the northern parts of the country.
Limpopo, Mpumalanga and Gauteng have been experiencing consistent heavy rains for several days since tropical cyclone Eloise swept through Mozambique late last month.
Spokesperson Ike Phaahla says the some of the game reserve’s roads and bridges remain closed as a precautionary measure.
“The Kruger National Park is still experiencing rain which has led to gravel roads being closed. Crocodile Bridge was overflowing this morning. We are keeping a close eye on it,” he says.
Phaahla adds no causalities have been reported.
“We are fortunate that we have not had any reports of casualties or accidents during these heavy downpours, but we still urge people to be extra vigilant when enjoying their game drives.”
“Those confirmed bookings at any other bush camp will be notified.”
The rainy weather is expected to persist for the rest of the week.
