Earlier in the week, Mothae said Eskom did discuss the rugby over the weekend when they had to implement load shedding.

"Obviously we would certainly want to ensure that South Africans are able to watch the rugby without load shedding," she said.

On Friday, President Cyril Ramaphosa acknowledged South Africans' frustrations with ongoing rolling blackouts as Eskom battles with electricity supply and demand.

"We've been very depressed with the electricity," said Ramaphosa.
