SA records just under 22-thousand Covid-19 cases

South Africa currently has 21 869 active Covid-19 cases.
According to the latest data released by Health Minister, Zweli Mhize, 1 222 new infections were reported across the country in the 24 hours up to Sunday evening.
This brings the country’s total cases to 1 584 064.
Mkhize confirmed another 11 Covid-19 related deaths.
KwaZulu-Natal, Limpopo, Mpumalanga and North West were the provinces with zero new fatalities.
The Eastern Cape, Gauteng and Northern Cape recorded 1 related death each.
In the Western Cape there were 3 fatalities, while the Free State recorded 5.
This brings the country’s death toll to 54 417.
“We convey our condolences to the loved ones of the departed and thank the health care workers who treated the deceased patients,” reads the statement by Mkhize.
The country’s recoveries now stand at 1 507 778, representing 95%.
So far, 318 670 Health Care Workers have been vaccinated under the Sisonke Protocol.
