SA Weather Service issues warning for severe thunderstorms

A warning for severe thunderstorms has been issued by the South African Weather Service for the Northern Cape, North West and the Free State for Wednesday and Thursday.
Although no warning has been issued, the Weather Service says Gauteng may also experience thunderstorms.
Forecaster Lehlohonolo Thobela says an impact-based warning has been issued, which includes a possibility of localised flooding.

“We have an impact-based warning of yellow level two that will be for severe thunderstorms with a potential of localised flooding and strong winds which can occur over the north-eastern part of the Northern Cape, western part of the NorthWest and the north-western parts of the Free State.
“The current storms do not exclude Gauteng from having downfalls resulting in flooding.”
Gauteng residents can expect a 60% chance of scattered thunderstorms and showers which will result in heavy rainfall.
