The airline said on Tuesday that it remains focused on maintaining operational continuity amid ongoing global geopolitical tensions that are influencing energy markets.

According to the national carrier, South Africa’s aviation fuel supply is supported by multiple channels, including domestic refining capacity and established import infrastructure, helping to cushion the industry against potential regional supply disruptions.

SAA said it currently has sufficient fuel arrangements in place to support its flight schedule.

Group CEO John Lamola added that the aviation sector routinely plans for uncertainties linked to global oil markets.

"Geopolitical developments can influence global oil prices and aviation logistics, and the airline industry is accustomed to planning for such uncertainties.

"At SAA, we work proactively with fuel suppliers, airports and industry partners to safeguard operational continuity. We also maintain robust risk management and supply planning frameworks that allow us to anticipate and mitigate potential disruptions while continuing to serve our customers reliably."

The airline added that it operates under established fuel supply agreements with licensed providers at the airports it serves.

These suppliers maintain inventories and infrastructure to ensure consistent operations.

SAA also reiterated its commitment to shielding passengers from sudden cost pressures linked to global fuel price fluctuations while maintaining competitive fares.

"As South Africa’s national carrier, South African Airways remains focused on connecting people, markets and opportunities," Lamola said.

"Through disciplined operations, strong partnerships and a commitment to customer service, SAA will continue to support tourism, trade and the broader economic development of South Africa and the African continent."

The airline said it will continue monitoring global developments and working with industry partners to ensure stable operations.
