SABC acting CEO Jimi Matthews resigns

SABC acting CEO Jimi Matthews has resigned with immediate effect.
Matthews posted his resignation letter on social media on Monday morning.
In his letter he says for many months he has compromised the values he holds dear.
"What is happening at the SABC is wrong and I can no longer be part of it."

His resignation comes in the wake of the public broadcaster's decision to ban the broadcasting of destruction of property during protests and the highlighting of newspaper headlines.
Meanwhile, suspended SABC journalists are reportedly taking the company to the Constitutional Court.
It comes after they challenged SABC boss Hlaudi Motsoeneng's order not to cover violent protests.
