SACP: ANC has made ‘some mistakes’ with cadre deployment

The South African Communist Party (SACP) has acknowledged that the African National Congress (ANC) has made mistakes when it comes to cadre deployment.
SACP chairperson Joe Mpisi says the party looks forward to the commission of inquiry into state capture’s recommendations on the policy.
“Here and there, there were mistakes done by the movement in deploying comrades only to find that comrades have the experience and don’t have the qualification and understanding the subject matter or the deployment. The commission will have to look into that,” he said on the sidelines of the hearings.
ANC president Cyril Ramaphosa testified at the hearings on Wednesday.
“The ANC. through the president, clarified the work of the deployment committee and its responsibility.
“I think we are looking forward to the recommendations by the commission because people don’t understand how the movement works. They often make mistakes and think they can take an ordinary person and deploy that person to a position of responsibility,”
President Ramaphosa made his first appearance at the Zondo Commission on Wednesday where he was questioned extensively on the party’s cadre deployment policy.
Meanwhile, Democratic Alliance (DA) leader John Steenhuisen says the president has downplayed the impact of the cadre deployment policy.
