It affirmed its support for the deputy president at the Moses Kotane Memorial Lecture in Rustenburg this afternoon.

Secretary Madoda Sambatha says: "If the president's choice is Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, then our choice is Ramaphosa. We are very clear."

He says the party had no intention of entering the succession debate.

"We are not going to be blamed. The ANC president did it himself. The ANC national executive committee (NEC) said do not speak about names. The first person to speak of a name, was the president."

President Jacob Zuma publicly endorsed Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma during a church service in Durban last week.

SACP leader Solly Mapaila says if the ANC does not take action against the president, it will destroy the movement.

"The Guptas are running a parallel government and Zuma is complicit."

He says at the core of the major challenges facing the revolution is factionalism, corruption, corporate capture of the state and the organisation.
