SANDF probing abuse video
Updated | By Martine van der Walt Ehlers
The South African National Defence Force (SANDF) has confirmed that it is investigating a video showing a man dressing in army fatigues abusing a woman.
In a statement on Thursday, spokesperson Ronald Maseko said the SANDF condemns all acts of violence against women and children.
"The SANDF is totally and wholly against gender-based violence against any women or any child.
"It doesn't matter what the position or rank of a person might be, it is unwarranted and it is unacceptable."
The incident is alleged to have taken place in Montana, north of Pretoria.
"Military police are now investigating the matter and are trying to identify the person in the video footage," said Maseko.
