Saturday Star editor resigns
Updated | By sibahle motha
Saturday Star editor Cecilia Russell has resigned from her post, Independent Media said on Thursday.
"It is with regret that Independent Media announces the departure of Cecilia Russell, Editor of Saturday Star," the company said in a statement.
Russell had decided to leave the newspaper after two years as editor in order to pursue personal interests outside the Independent Media group.
"Independent Media thanks Cecilia for her contribution to the company and wishes her every success with her future endeavours."
Assistant editor Kashiefa Ajam would act as editor until Russell's replacement is appointed.
"Kashiefa has been with Independent Media since 2000 serving in various capacities at the Cape Times and The Star before joining Saturday Star, where she was appointed assistant editor in October 2014."
