SCOPA vows to act against Mavuso’s ‘unbecoming’ behaviour
Updated | By Cliff Shiko
Standing Committee on Public Accounts (Scopa) member and ANC MP Bheki Hadebe has hit back at Eskom board member Busisiwe Mavuso amid the row over the crisis at the power utility.
Hadebe has described Mavuso’ behaviour as unbecoming, unwarranted, and unprovoked.
This is after she blamed the ANC for the mess at the power utility during an oversight visit by the Scopa officials to several power stations on Friday.
She left the meeting after a heated exchange of words with Scopa chair Nkululeko Hlengwa.
“The unwarranted, unprovoked utterances by Mavuso defy logic and raise deep concerns about the quality of board members appointed to state owned-entities,” Hadebe said.
Hadebe said the ANC remains concerned about Eskom’s failure to curb load shedding, as it blames the newly built power stations Medupi and Kusile for not generating enough capacity to keep lights on.
